Heritage OsteoGuard is a balanced
calcium/magnesium product with vitamin D and Boron added for optimum calcium
absorption. Unlike many other commercial calcium products, Heritage uses
Microcrystalline Hydroxyapatite (MCHC). The superiority of MCHC over
traditional soluble calcium supplements has been demonstrated in a number of
human calcium balance and calcium absorption studies.
MCHC is not a bone meal - it is
a whole bone extract. Unlike bone meal, it is not heated in the reduction
process; instead it is processed at a very low, computer-controlled
temperature, utilizing no chemical solvents. Only the long bones of cattle
and sheep are used. These bones are defatted and processed into
microcrystals so that the minerals are preserved.
Why do you need this
supplement? Calcium is the fifth most abundant mineral found in the body. It
is needed daily. Yet, it is estimated that only 20-40 percent of calcium
ingested from food is utilized by most people. We know that bone and tooth
development and maintenance depends upon the proper absorption of calcium.
Yet there is definitely a lifelong need for dietary calcium! Physical
exercise as well as adequate dietary intake of calcium, vitamin D, protein
and other nutrients are necessary for proper development of bone density.
The density of bone, the function of blood clotting and the proper
functioning of neuromuscular transmission are all dependent upon calcium.
Calcium affects each age group. In children, it is necessary for the proper
formation of bone and teeth.
Later in life, increasing
calcium intake promotes the health of the skeletal system overall.
Many factors determine
calcium absorption or use by the body. Calcium absorption may be reduced by
physical and emotional stress. You may lose as much as 900 mg per day if
stress is high. The average adult male loses from 85 to 420 mg per day. If
heavily exercising, as much as 1000 mg may be lost daily. If calcium is
deficient, it is taken from the bones and, only when available, is returned
to the bones.
Slowly, you may experience a
weakening of the bones when calcium is not returned. This is how
osteoporosis develops. Because this loss happens over many years, you may
not notice it until bones break. Brittle or soft nails, receding gums, loose
teeth, muscle cramps, premature graying of hair and heart palpitations may
all be warning signs of calcium deficiency.
We have combined our
Microcrystalline Calcium with the recommended amount of Magnesium Citrate,
as well as adding Vitamin D and Boron to ensure you receive only the highest
quality supplement. Vitamin D and Boron are known to help with vital
assimilation of calcium. Magnesium is an activator for most of the enzyme
systems involving carbohydrates, fat, and protein in energy-producing
reactions. Proper levels of magnesium are necessary for normal
neuromuscular contractions. It is necessary that the proper ratio of
calcium to magnesium be introduced into the body for both to operate at
maximum efficiency. Heritage OsteoGuard has synergistically combined these
ingredients to achieve that goal. A daily dosage of Heritage OsteoGuard
provides the body with 1000 mg of highly absorbable calcium.
Suggested Adult Use:
Adults 2 tablets in the morning and 2 at bedtime.
Testimonials:
"I've been under tremendous stress lately due to work schedule, as well as
getting ready for my trips to San Diego. As a result I was remiss in taking
my Omega-3 and Shark Cartilage for a couple of days earlier this week -
although I was taking the Jurassic Complete and E-Lite regularly right
along.
Anyway, the pain from my sciatica and rheumatoid arthritis in my right
hip and back had become suddenly very, very sharp - almost unbearable. I
promptly remembered to go back to taking the Omega-3 and Shark Cartilage,
and it was incredible. In only a couple of hours the pain completely
disappeared and I've remained pain-free ever since."
