Heritage DI,
Specifically Designed To Support Healthy Blood
Sugar Levels! |

|
|
The statistics are staggering: |
• Globally in the year 2000, there were 35 million people
with diabetes
~ 54% of these people were in Latin America (19 million)
• In the year 2025, it is projected that there will be 64
million people with diabetes
~ 62% of these people will be in Latin America (40 million –
that is double!) |

The human body
is extremely resilient and infinitely amazing.
All the energy we need
to sustain our bodies
comes in the form of the food we eat. Yet, even the person eating
the absolute worst foods does not pay the price – immediately, at least.
The body has checks and balances that strive to override poor food choices
and poor lifestyle choices. However, human bodies have not evolved
physiologically as quickly as our diets and lifestyles have changed. For
example, the body is designed to derive energy from a variety of foods –
meats, nuts, beans, plants, oils, etc. Yet in many countries, plain simple
sugar provides as much as one-third of all the calories eaten in a day.
The human body is resilient, but compensating for this type of abuse is
nearly impossible.
One of the biggest health
challenges of the 21st Century is balancing blood sugar levels. The good
news is that we can change the downward spiral towards imbalanced blood
sugar levels quite easily. In fact, studies have shown that by losing
weight and being a little more active, healthy blood sugar levels
are achievable. Heritage
helps you achieve these goals with many of our existing products.
This is not simply a
disease that is inconvenient; it is a deadly disease. Among Latins, diabetes
is the fifth leading cause of death. People with diabetes are two to four
times more likely to die from heart disease or stroke than those without
diabetes. In Latin America, the direct medical costs attributed to treating
diabetes is between $5 million and $9 million, and most of this cost
involves treating complications of the disease such as foot amputations and
kidney failure. This cost averages more than $700 per person. The
progression towards diabetes is alarming as well, with millions of people
undiagnosed with ‘pre-diabetes’ – also known as impaired glucose tolerance.
We should be running away from sugar in horror, not embracing our next can
of sugar-laden soda!

DI
Now, Heritage is very
pleased to introduce Heritage Di, a product specifically designed to support
healthy blood sugar levels. It is a precisely calibrated nutritional
formula with selected key minerals and botanicals including the following. |
| |
|

|
|
Selected Ingredient
Highlights:
•
Gymnema
– in its native country
India, this plant is called ‘gur-mar’, meaning
‘sugar-destroying’ due to its ability to reduce blood sugar
levels and for some, to
inhibit the sweet taste
•
Jerusalem Artichoke
– this plant is neither
from Jerusalem nor an artichoke. This
tuber, instead of containing starch like potatoes, contains
a substance called ‘inulin’.
Starch, due to its long chain of glucose molecules, raises
blood sugar levels fairly
rapidly, whereas inulin is made up of a shorter chain of
fructose molecule that do not
cause blood sugar levels to spike. Thus, the Jerusalem
Artichoke reduces hunger,
helps to stabilize blood sugar levels, and even has been
shown to have a positive
effect on the intestinal flora.
•
Bitter Melon
– also known as carela,
the bitter aspect of this plant stimulates
digestion. Multiple studies also support this ingredient for
use to promote healthy
blood sugar levels.
•
Cinnamon
– studies show that
cinnamon also stimulates digestion, and has a very
good effect in reducing blood sugar levels (in one study,
cinnamon was three times more effective than a placebo).
•
Vanadium
– this mineral improves
insulin sensitivity, improving the blood sugar balance, which in turn
increases
the efficiency of carbohydrate and fat metabolism
•
Magnesium
– people with diabetes
have been shown to often have low levels of magnesium, which has a negative
effect on blood glucose levels and insulin sensitivity.
•
Chromium
– helps
facilitate the uptake of glucose for energy, and increases the efficacy of
insulin. In one study of more than 40,000 people, chromium supplementation
improved insulin sensitivity in the majority of overweight subjects. |
